About the Virginia Fire Service Council

The Virginia Fire Service Council (VFSC) was established in February 1975. The Council has a total of 21 members. Seven members come from Volunteer Fire Departments, seven members from Career Fire Departments, and seven members from Combination Fire Departments. The VFSC works with Virginia's emergency service community to promote in the best interests of the fire service. Each year, the council holds the Combined Virginia Emergency Services Legislative Summit brining together the leaders from Virginia's fire service organizations to discuss legislation that will impact the future of Emergency Service in the Commonwealth and the nation.
